Key Takeaway
I sent money to Pakistan through five providers simultaneously. TapTap Send — an app most people haven't heard of — came out on top. Here's the full breakdown.

Why I Ran This Test
Quick answer: TapTap Send is consistently at or near the top of this corridor, charges no fee above $250, and credits in seconds via Apple Pay — which is why it is worth knowing about despite being less familiar than the others here. It is not always the outright winner: on $1,000 today it delivers Rs277,498 against MoneyGram at Rs277,526, with Wise at Rs275,205. The leaders sit close together and swap places; the spread across all 17 providers is Rs24,812, so the decision that matters is avoiding the bottom of the table, not picking between the top two. I've been tracking the USD to PKR corridor for a while on SendMoneyCompare. Ria, XE, Wise, and Remitly dominate the conversation — they're the names you see in every Pakistani diaspora forum thread about sending money home.
But the comparison data kept showing TapTap Send near the top of our leaderboard on this corridor, and I noticed something interesting: it accepts Apple Pay. For anyone who's watched a Remitly "Express" transfer spin for 20 minutes while waiting for a bank debit to clear, that's a meaningful difference.
So I ran a real test. I opened accounts on all five services and sent money through each one. Here's exactly what happened.
The Five Providers I Tested
I tested the following providers on the same day, on the USD to PKR corridor:
- TapTap Send — relatively unknown in the US, but regulated and growing fast in the Pakistani and Bangladeshi diaspora markets
- Wise — the benchmark; mid-market rate, transparent fees, trusted by millions
- Remitly — dominant in the South Asian remittance market; Express vs Economy options
- Ria Money Transfer — part of Euronet, strong in cash pickup and direct bank deposit to Pakistan
- XE — well-known currency brand; solid rate but ACH-only funding means 3 business days to deliver
All five are regulated, all five serve the USA to Pakistan corridor. I was testing on a real transfer, not a quote — so the numbers below reflect what actually happened, not a screenshot of a calculator.

TapTap and Ria are neck-and-neck on rate — the difference is less than 300 PKR on a $1,000 transfer. But TapTap's payment method is the real differentiator: it accepts Apple Pay and debit card, and the money moves in seconds. Ria and Remitly are also fast via card, but TapTap's Apple Pay integration makes it the smoothest experience I've tested on this corridor.
The Wise gap is real. Wise's $8.36 fee on a $1,000 transfer, combined with a slightly lower rate, means your recipient gets about 3,800 PKR less than with TapTap. On a $2,000 transfer that gap widens further. Wise's 0% markup policy is genuine — but the fee still adds up, especially at the amounts most Pakistan remittance senders use.
Where this corridor stands today
Same corridor, same $1,000, priced live against 17 providers as at 8 September 2026:
What changed since May. TapTap Send no longer leads outright — it is Rs277,498 against MoneyGram at Rs277,526, a difference small enough that it will likely swap back. The more useful finding held: TapTap remains at or near the top, and the spread across the whole corridor is Rs24,812 on $1,000, which is far larger than the gap between the leaders. Picking any of the top few costs you little; picking from the bottom costs a lot.
The May figures were captured by hand on one day. The live table is generated from our quote archive on every build, excludes promotional first-transfer rates, and is the one to trust for a decision today.
One Thing to Know About TapTap's Fee Structure
TapTap Send charges a $1.99 fee below $250, then drops to zero fees above that threshold. If you're sending $100, the fee eats into the rate advantage. At $250 and above, TapTap is zero-fee — and at those amounts it consistently ranks at or near the top on this corridor.
Here's how TapTap's PKR payout looks across amounts:
| Send Amount | TapTap Fee | TapTap Rate | You Receive (PKR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $1.99 | 280.10 | 27,453 |
| $250 | $0 | 280.10 | 70,025 |
| $500 | $0 | 280.10 | 140,050 |
| $1,000 | $0 | 280.10 | 280,100 |
| $2,500 | $0 | 280.10 | 700,250 |
TapTap's rate is fixed per corridor per day — no variable markup by amount. Data from our comparison engine, updated every 6 hours.
For the typical Pakistan remittance sender in the US sending $500–$2,000 at a time, this is a strong option. If you're sending under $200 regularly, MoneyGram ($0.99 fee, strong rate) may edge it out at smaller amounts.
The Speed Test: Where TapTap Really Pulls Ahead
Every provider quotes a delivery estimate. What they don't tell you is when that clock starts — because bank-funded transfers don't start until the ACH debit clears, which can take a full business day.
TapTap's Apple Pay and debit card funding solves this. The payment is captured instantly, and the PKR hits the recipient's account within seconds to a couple of minutes. I watched it happen in real time.
Remitly Express is also fast — genuinely 4–8 minutes in my experience on this corridor via card. But you're paying $2.99 at the $100 level, and the rate is marginally lower.
XE is the slowest — $0 fee and a decent rate (278.12), but it's ACH-only, which means 3 business days. For anyone sending money to family who needs it today, XE doesn't work. Where XE does make sense is large transfers — think $5,000–$50,000 — where the zero-fee structure and dedicated FX desk add real value. For everyday remittances under $2,000, the 3-day wait rules it out.
Wise is faster than XE but still variable. My Pakistan transfers via Wise have ranged from 8 minutes to 2 hours depending on time of day and payment method. Bank-funded Wise transfers sit closer to the 2-hour end.
If speed matters — someone needs the money now, it's a weekend, it's after hours — TapTap via Apple Pay is the best option on this corridor I've tested.
Should You Switch to TapTap Send for USD to PKR?
Here's my honest assessment after running this test:
- If you send $250–$5,000 to Pakistan from the US: TapTap Send is worth a serious look. The rate is competitive, the fee is zero, and Apple Pay funding means it's genuinely instant. Set up the account before you need it urgently.
- If you value brand trust and dispute resolution: Wise and Remitly have larger support teams and more established track records. TapTap is regulated (FCA in the UK, licensed in the US), but if something goes wrong, your experience with a smaller provider's customer service may differ.
- If you send under $200 regularly: Run the numbers on our USD to PKR comparison tool — MoneyGram or Remitly may win at those amounts once TapTap's $1.99 fee is factored in.
- If you use Wise for transparency: Wise's 0% markup promise is real, but the fee on this corridor means it's not the cheapest option. It remains the best choice for large business transfers ($10,000+) where rate certainty matters more than a few hundred rupees.
My current approach: I use TapTap for most regular transfers on this corridor, and keep Wise as a backup for large one-off transfers where I want the audit trail and business payment features.
