What is SendMoneyCompare?
SendMoneyCompare is an independent, editorially unbiased comparison platform for international money transfer services, founded in 2024 and based in Denver, Colorado. Our automated scrapers run every 6 hours via GitHub Actions, collecting quotes directly from provider APIs (Wise, OFX, Instarem, TapTapSend) and via headless browser automation (Playwright) for providers without public APIs. We rank results by the total amount the recipient receives — the only honest comparison metric, because it factors in both the transfer fee and the exchange rate markup.
Methodology
- Data collection: automated scrapers every 6 hours (API integrations, Playwright browser, Cheerio HTML parsing).
- Source priority: Direct API > Comparison aggregator > Third-party API > Fallback.
- Ranking metric: total amount the recipient receives (after fees + FX markup).
- Exchange rate benchmark: ECB, ExchangeRate.host, Open Exchange Rates.
- Trustpilot ratings: overlaid from scraped Trustpilot data.

Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate with 0% markup. Its fee (0.41–0.71%) is the entire cost.
